Israel oil tanker voyage through disputed Gulf opens in 1946 tone
The Kern Hills oil tanker carrying 16 300 tons of oil sailed toward the Gulf of Aqaba under U S flag with Israeli permit. Officials say the voyage tests international waterway rights while U N forces watch the strait. Moseley said pumping 1000 tons of fuel and 15 500 tons of crude to shore tanks will take about 26 hours. The voyage follows Israel asserting the strait as international waters.
