Defoliation and Bombing Report From Vietnam
Two professors from the University of Montana and University of Washington, Pfeiffer and Orians, report extensive defoliation and bombing by B 52s in Vietnam. They describe 2.6 million bomb craters, massive accidental defoliation of crops and fruit trees, and threats to forests and wildlife, with cooperation from military officials during a helicopter inspection. The study notes defoliation remained steady in 1967 and 1968, except for crop destruction reduced to about one third of 1967 levels.
