California Ecology Corps faced by out of state objectors
An Assembly panel heard that non Californians join Reagan ecology units to meet alternate service rules. About 40 to 650 objectors are in California's Ecology Corps, with costs cited at about 3000 dollars per member annually and pay rising to 100 dollars monthly plus room and board. Some Minnesota recruits said they faced pressure to join, while officials noted out of state labor and questions about wage standards and standardization across centers.

Minimum pay for men bill advances in California
SACRAMENTO, UP I The Assembly Ways and Means Committee Wednesday approved a bill to extend state minimum wage law to men and to exempt them from hours and working conditions rules. Legislators argued the current standard for women could be discriminatory if a federal equality amendment passes. The bill would shift wage guideline authority to the Industrial Welfare Commission, which now sets rules for women and minors.
