Hearing Set for Accused Contractors

Long Beach men Charles Robert Evans and Lester Horton were arraigned on three counts of forgery and three counts of grand theft related to demanding payment for work not paid, with bail set at 3150 each. They operated Economy Constructors, Inc. at 2119 Curry St and are to return for a preliminary hearing.

Soviet Moon Probe Will Scan Surface

Soviet unmanned LunikoV probe launched Tuesday toward the moon and Tass said it will pass close to the lunar surface. The mission is expected to take about 344 days to reach its destination with a goal of using the moon as a launching pad for possible manned flights to the planets.
