Truman tours Park Avenue in brisk 26 block walk
Former president Harry S Truman, soon to be 73, walked 26 blocks down Park Avenue in a dawn appearance. He riffed on golf carts, walk discipline, bourbon for breakfast, the world situation, and clues about his upcoming grandchild. He passed on naming a boy after him and joked about a nephew who bore his name in wartime. He ended with a breakfast meeting with James A. Farley, noting bourbon over Coca Cola.
