Death of Henry Christian at Corvallis prompts obituary

Henry Christian died in Corvallis on Wednesday August 31. Born on the Isle of Man, he was a sailor for many years and a country peer who once ran a small carrier from Dallas. Services were held at the United Church in the city with interment in Monmouth Cemetery. He is survived by six children: Mrs. Mary E of Portland, Mrs. Rhoda Baker and Mrs. Isabella Baker, Mrs. Avis Gaines, and his wife Mrs. Christian, plus other heirs listed in the notice.

Baptist Sunday School Picnic By The River

On Thursday morning August 25 a group of six Baptist Sunday school members and friends went by ferry to a riverside cabin. Children played running and jumping games to spark appetites, then took part in races with prizes. In the afternoon some rowboats were used to shuttle the party up and down the river bank, returning home safely with everyone happy.

Death of T B Huntley in Independence at 72

T B Huntley died at 8 10 AM at his son Wallace Huntley's home in Independence after two weeks of paralysis. A Rock Island Illinois-born pioneer who moved to California at 15, he lived in Independence thirty years, served as road supervisor, and wrote for the Enterprise. Survived by six children: Chas, Wallace, James of Independence. Minnie Burnett, Geo, and Ben Huntley of Portland. Wife died six years earlier. Funeral at 1 30 PM Sunday from W Huntley's home with interment at a local cemetery.
