The Evening Telegram reports H. Hirschberg secured a water mains right of way from Luckiemute River sources west of Faille City to Independence. Land between Independence and Fells City through Monmouth was purchased to lay pipes along county roads for irrigation and city water access. A preliminary survey supports early water supply for Polk County cities.

Published first paper takes own life after arrest and chaos
Jong Shee Moore known as Jack Moore a bow hand faced domestic troubles and planned revenge. Police pursued Moore to his wife’s mother home and he killed himself after a failed confrontation injuring no one else.
