Salem police report a fatal car crash on the Salem road near the water tank when Jesse McCorkle lost control and the vehicle went over an embankment. Coroner and officials quickly investigated. McCorkle, about 30, left a wife and one child behind.

Pedde Man Passes Away After Illness
Harry Livey died at his Pedee home Friday night after a long illness caused by tuberculosis. The funeral was held at the family home on Sunday. This marks the second death in the same household within two weeks. Mr Lacey's daughter had died from spinal meningitis a week or ten days earlier.

Quick Action Saves Building After Rear Store Fire

Death of Mrs Bloch After Kidney Disease From Accident
Mrs Will M Bloch died after an operation for a diseased kidney in Portland following a long illness. Born Freddie M Tozer in Ashland Oregon she spent much of her life there before marrying in 1910 and moving to Independence. Her funeral was held under trees at the old Ashland home with interment in Ashland cemetery attended by Rev Van Fosen. Mr Bloch returned from Ashland Friday.
