Courageous rescue at river ferry frames midwinter crash

A wagon toppled from a ferry pen as a horse bolted, throwing Mr Wheeler and young Katie into the river. Dr. Ketebgan saved the child by grabbing her foot while the buggy remained suspended momentarily, then reached shallow water and escaped harm.

Pomona resumes Willamette River run to Corvallis

The Slamey Pomona of the Oregon City Transportation Company completed a first post‑closure trip up the Willamette to Corvallis and back to Albany. The steamer will run three trips weekly Monday Wednesday Friday, aided by river improvements and new dock access. Obituary of R. E. Ferguson of Independence Oregon

R E Ferguson born November twenty four eighteen forty nine in Halderman Northumberland County Canada moved to central Michigan at ten then to northern Michigan in 1880 where he married Bertha DeWitt Later they relocated to Independence Oregon living on a farm eleven years and in the city eighteen years He spent the last two years in real estate He was a longtime member of the I C C F and sang in the M OE Church choir for many years until his voice was distressed by age
