Scott C. Jordan died at home in this city Wednesday of last week at age forty seven years four months. He was born near Oliveburg Pennsylvania on June twenty seventh eighteen sixty two and married Laura Sparks in eighteen eighty seven. They had eight children Lilian Ila Belle Guy Lon Ambrose Scott and Hazel with Dilla remaining in Pennsylvania. His last wish was to unite with the Methodist church. He joined the Maccabees in eighteen oh two. Last summer he moved from Pennsylvania to Independence Oregon seeking health but tuberculosis compelled his death.

Govro, bound for Los Angeles aboard the steamer Kansas City, faced a heavy storm with six men reported missing on arrival. A large wave swept the prow railing away and soaked many passengers, though Govro himself had a safe voyage and arrived in good health.
