City Council to Introduce Permanent Grade Pavement

At the restar meeting the common council discussed paving and voted to introduce an ordinance at the next session to establish a permanent grade in Independence streets. An estimated cost of about 15 000 dollars was presented by Mr. Hall as the project moves toward hard surface pavement. Verd Hil obstruction prevented a remonstrance against a sidewalk on South Main Street in front of the Hill property.

Vancouver man to start nursery after buying Marion county farm

J. M. Keith of Vancouver Washington bought the W Scott firm in Marion county across the river from Independence through Independence Real Estate Co. He plans to start a nursery on possession day. Keith, a seasoned nursery man, recently sold his interest in a Vancouver nursery. the price paid was $5 000.

Darrell Stump of Monmouth and Riss Neeson of Scappoose competed in the West Jersey State event at Scappoose and were defeated on Thursday.
