Old Soldier John C. Brown Dies at 77 in Oregon
John C. Brown born April 24 1840 in Morgan County Ohio died March 26 1918 on his farm north of town aged 77 years 11 months 2 days. He served 1862 1865 under Generals Logan and Grant and marched with Sherman. He married Diannah Bacon on furlough 1863 and had two sons Frances and another son who died in infancy. He moved from Oregon to Eola in 1872 later settled near Independence in 1887. A Quaker and G A R Gibson Post member he left one son Frances and three grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral at the Presbyterian church with old soldiers in charge.
