In Monmouth region voting continues with Kennedy ahead as Combest and Wheelock compete for support. Independent district notices, estate filings, and property transfers fill the agenda alongside excursion plans to Yaquina Bay and social events hosted by the Rebekahs.
The Buena Vieja public school held closing exercises Friday evening with a large audience. Four graduates in the class of '03 and '08 were recognized. Ver a Murphy Edna Hall Wright Porterfield and Frank Kurre received diplomas. Prof Metzger and Superintendent Starr delivered remarks. Ice cream lemonade and cake followed upstairs served by the M E Aid Society.
A report outlines transfers: Saloma Osborn and J W Brown with 70 acres. BF Smith naming 86 acres. Douty to Messner with Hill's Independence lots valued at 2950 dollars. Erikeon to O & Sheldon with tracts in Gilliam and Polk. A Buena Vista note recalls President Roosevelt's Salem visit, where a disabled girl was briefly kissed on the forehead, eliciting crowd emotion.
Arthur Logan of fena Vista faced a costly real estate mix up after a Wisconsin ranch failed to sell and a deed from the east never arrived. He sent the Wisconsin deed, paid for a Newberg tract and gear, then learned the Wisconsin property remained unsold leaving him about 100 in coin and a lost Newberg stake. Logan moved to Corvallis to work in a logging camp while awaiting the eastern sale and deed. Mr and Mrs Oliver Locke of Salem visited with Mrs Damon.
