Rejected Lover Tries Poison Death in Polk County
John Remington, a Hansen farm employee near Dallas, took carbolic acid in a personal crisis. He left Hansen's house before breakfast, ingested the poison in a pasture, and was found in agony. He was rushed to his father’s home and remained alive with poor prospects for recovery. A note blamed a disappointed love affair. He is about 30, eldest son of Reuben Remington, Polk County pioneer.
