A Recent Visitor From Buena Vista Mar 19
Mrs. Mary Croisan of Salem mother of Senator Ed Croisan visits Buena Vista. Pioneer of 49 crossing plains at 17, married Henry Croisan near the Platte. Wagons rolled into the river as a playful rite. The Croisans lived near Corvallis on land now part of Oregon Agricultural College grounds. They moved to Salem for work then dispersed to California mines before returning with a trade of cayuses for a claim near Salem.

Monmouth Band to Join Local Group for Concert
The final concert of the series will feature the entire Monmouth band joining the local organization for a total of thirty players. Leaders Frank Lucas and Thomas Zeiber attend, with a program including Imperial March, Reverie, The Wayside Chapel, Danse Da Vaudeville, Stanford March, Blaze Away, Romance, Colored Aristocracy, selections from The Bohemian Girl, and Home Sweet Home. Death of Mrs. Cindrella Kurre Near Independence
Mrs. Cindrella Kurre aged 43 died at home south of Independence on August 22 1902 after a illness of typhoid fever and heart trouble. Born August 19 1859 in Livingston County Missouri she married Peter Kurre in Chillicothe Missouri in 1879 and moved to Oregon in 188? They had six children four sons and two daughters. She was a member of Independence Pacific Circle W of W and a devoted Baptist. Funeral held at home Saturday at 1 PM with Rev A J Handaker officiating and interment in the LQ C F cemetery. The community honors her memory with many mourners.
