Old Sea Dog Chases The Malamutes Across Alaska

Traveling with a seven dog team Captain Worth, famed for sailing the main, searched Dikeman last week for a supply cache awaiting him with Dan Sutherland. He roams regionally near the Green Fraction on upper Otter chasing work and is described as not yet finished his travels.

Freight Rates Down With The Show

After the first credible snowfall, freight rates to the creeks fell from two to one and a half cents. The reduction, believed instituted by the Mutchler Bros. freighters, is likely to be adopted by other outfits. The route remains fairly easy and should improve from this date.

Hotel Arrivals and Travel Schedule Update

The list shows numerous guests at Hotel and Roma Hotel including Wu Guittschiek Clark Jake CIT Labosteau 21, Wiseman Pat Whalen and many others from Flat Creek Kuskokwim and surrounding areas. Keyes and Maylan swap ends on the schedule to travel from Flat Creek at 8 am and depart Iditarod in the afternoon with a four horse team.

Axel Erickson of Henderson on 1 B Otter Creek underwent a serious operation in this city last Thursday. Dr Wortman presided with D Brooks assisting. two trained nurses Mrs Cummings and Mrs Young attended. He rests at the Miner Home lodging house and hopes to leave in about two weeks if recovery continues. Search for John Ness After He Leaves Discovery Cabin

Report from Discovery Doulan describes John Ness a 42 year old resident of Flat City who left Jack Ritchie's cabin for Georgetown on a cold morning with no food or blankets. Fred Scheid J M Gifford Pete Jensen and Mr Stephens followed later and reached Georgetown two days after Ness disappeared. No trace of Ness was found and residents fear he may have perished due to exposure.

Dog theft and petty larceny cases heard last Monday

Emil Jensen faced Commissioner Malthy for stealing a dog and pleaded guilty to a 30 day sentence after being caught sawing handles from a sled at Fiat. Witness Ambrose Van owned the sled.
