Washington February 28 The wife of Senator Bourne of Oregon left for her home in the west and said she will bring suit for divorce. The sudden departure follows earlier marital strains and reports of dissension within the couple.
Olympia February 28 The Washington House of Representatives passes a resolution urging President Wilson to advance the construction of railroads in Alaska. The action signals state support for development of northern transportation and economic links.
A movement to endorse Major J. F. for Alaska governor gains momentum with support from the Council Kongatok and others. The Seward district is listed as backing the candidate as the February peninsula race coalesces around a strong gubernatorial bid.

Barney Haggerty, long time North pioneer and former Iditarod figure, died after leaving the race for the Outside last fall. He was known for his early involvement and ownership of considerable property in the region.
