News from Fairbanks reports a curling incident where Joe O'Connor was attacked by Funny Hull, described as a woman of the under world. The two were on friendly terms but a dispute led Hull to attack with a butcher knife, leaving O'Connor needing 16 stitches to repair his nose.
The executive committee announced delegate counts for the Republican territorial convention. First Division assigns Juneau Douglas Ketchikan Treadwell four each. Sitka Wrangel and Toring three. Skagway two. others one or two. Second Division lists Nome twenty one. St Michael Council and Glacier Creek five each. Candle four. others one. Third Division allocates Cordova eight Valdez six Seward five Chitina four Kennicott three Kutta la Unalaska Copper Mountain two each. others one. Fourth Division gives Fairbanks seventeen Fort Gobon four Iditarod three Flat City two. others one. The committee endorses the national administration and Taft.
Washington and Valdez report that Secretary Fisher’s annual outlook for Alaska emphasizes federal construction of a tidewater to Tanana Valley railroad, extension of interstate commerce leasing to the territory, liberal coal land terms while reserving US naval sites, and using lessee revenues for territorial development and roads. The Valdez convention endorses immediate self government.
Chicago reports Jack Johnson and Jim Flynn have signed articles to fight in a Ontario mining district with a Wendover Nevada finish offer of two purse amounts totaling 80 000 but the Porcupine offer was rejected. Nevada opposition grows amid Jeffries memories and fear of a repeat in the Johnson Flynn battle.

Clement M. Summers former president and Stewart G Holt former cashier of the First National Bank of Juneau pleaded not guilty to fraudulent banking charges. Summers trial is set for the May term. Holt's trial date is not yet fixed.

London reports the Chinese royal family intends to abdicate at an early date in Nanking. Advices note that the powers have been notified of the formation of a provisional republican government for China.
