Hyde Park redevelopment plan prompts new ideas and critique
Hyde Park architects Swann and Preissler urge open debate on the City Council approved redevelopment. Their plan proposes a north south commercial core around 53rd to 55th streets with integrated row housing, an outdoor Plaza and a Promenade for pedestrian movement. Through streets would be limited and a service area map guides Lake Park Avenue and the Outer Drive routing. Swann, a Skidmore Owings Merrill designer, and Preissler began drafting the critique and plan this spring for the Herald.
