Death in Hyde Park apartment dispute over smoke
Alfred Nelson, 58, janitor of 5489 Woodlawn, died from a basal skull fracture after a fight with tenant Cristobal Rodrigues, 34, who is charged with voluntary manslaughter. The incident began when Rodrigues complained coal gas was smoke- ing his children. Nelson died the next morning. Witness Norman Watson, owner of Watson Jewels, helped summon police.
