Committee forms to back Mann in 24th District bid
A citizens committee to support State Rep Robert Mann for another two years in the Illinois legislature was announced. The panel includes Hyde Park Kenwood Woodlawn South Shore and Washington Park residents and officials as Mann faces a federal civil suit against several state figures over a challenged ballot measure. The suit names Governor Ogilvie Secretary Powell and other officials as defendants.

University of Chicago student leader says support for the Viet Nam Moratorium is rising after Nixon’s Nov. 3 speech. A Nov. 15 March on Washington tickets are selling fast. Moratorium Activism Moves Across Chicago and Campus
Moratorium supporters plan leafletting for Al Raby a candidate for constitutional convention and picketing Jewel stores over California grapes. They join a candlelight march down Michigan Avenue and buses head to LADO rally in Humboldt Park and a six-bus trip to the antiwar march in Washington. Hyde Park Peace Council to Hold Silent Candlelight March
In response to President Nixon’s Viet Nam speech, the Hyde Park Peace Council will sponsor a silent Candlelight March on Nov 14 starting at Rockefeller Chapel and ending at First Presbyterian Church where a vigil light will burn until the war ends. A brief prayer and song will conclude the event at 7 30 p.m. Gather at Rockefeller Chapel for the march.
