Redmond Reaffirms 1968 Start For Hyde Park High School
General Superintendent James Redmond told Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference there will be no delay in building the new District 14 high school next to Kenwood School at Seth and Blackstone. He urged caution on size, proposing 1850 students initially to allow for later expansion as urban renewal housing adds enrollment.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago are pursuing major rehabilitation projects in Hyde Park Kenwood. In Woodlawn the seminary-owned 5400 block buildings are being remodeled for faculty and staff housing with new kitchens and baths. A new seminary building on 55th Street is slated to open for September 1967 classes. The University of Chicago plans FHA 312 financing for remodeling the Shelburne apartment hotel on 5100 block Kentwood to modernize kitchens and baths while keeping unit counts unchanged.
