School officials meet CCC over high school site plan
Representatives of the Board of Education and the Conservation Community Council met Monday at Edwin Rothschild’s home to discuss the proposed high school site at South and Blackstone. The CCC must approve changes to the urban renewal plan and public hearings are expected soon. Attendees included Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference Southeast Chicago Commission Woodlawn Community Services Organization and urban renewal staff.

Dorchester Tenants Form Council Over Lakeshore Apartments
Dorchester residents at 5118 Lakeshore Apartments organized a tenants council led by Mrs Ruth Cummings to press for repairs. They allege harassment and code violations after an elevator failed to serve all floors and a rear first floor exit was padlocked. A meeting with the Department of Urban Renewal prompted a building inspection appointment. The department lists owner Dr Benjamin Walker at 5118 Dorchester, but he was not reached and the on site manager would not comment.
