SWAP Parents Propose 4-4-4 System For Hyde Park High
Hyde Park parents involved in the SWAP tutoring plan submit a new proposal urging a 4-4-4 grade division with separate schools for grades 1-4 5-8 and 9-12 They seek a new district preschool and kindergarten building and a site in South Campus along 60th Street The plan also calls for expanded remedial staff curriculum development and more tutoring and reduced class sizes.

Piccadilly Hotel to Become University Student Housing
The University of Chicago will convert the Piccadilly Hotel at 5107 Blackstone into 76 one and two bedroom married student apartments by Oct. 1. The change requires major remodeling, includes relocation for tenants, and keeps some first floor commercial tenants. Hyde Park total university apartments rise to about 1,000.

Kozminski Students Lead Big Clean Up Drive
Kozminski School pupils at 936 E S Fourth staged a Friday cleanup as litter piled high in donated boxes by noon. By 4 PM the second sweep showed continued effort aided by Mrs Despres who announced the top litter-collecting class. Co sponsored by the school and the Neighborhood Improvement Committee of Northwest Hyde Park.
