Hyde Park to Plant 241 Trees Replacing Old Cottonwoods
Alderman Leon Despres reports Hyde Park will receive 241 new trees between 59th and 55th streets from University to Lake Park, replacing aging cottonwoods removed after decades of growth and root damage. University botany expert Dr Paul Voth confirms mold presence in old trunks, while residents must water and guard the saplings during their first year.
