Week of service and fire strike Hyde Park home
Mrs. Kaye Clement led a Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference dinner for Daniel Walker then suffered a daytime house fire at 5454 S Hyde Park Blvd. The blaze damaged the second and third floors but firefighters saved the first floor and a quick move back home is months away. Two children escaped unharmed.

Hyde Park YMCA Requires Teen Membership and Split Scheduling
Hyde Park YMCA directors voted all teens using the center must hold a valid YMCA membership with teen and pre teen days separated to reduce incidents. Baroque Lounge License Suspended After Narcotics Find
New Baroque Inc. license for Baroque Lounge at 1510 E 53rd was suspended by the Local Liquor Control Commission for 30 days after a Sept 24 search found marijuana in the basement and police noted drug paraphernalia. President Herbert Chalsky was arrested but later discharged. case dismissed for lack of evidence. Suspension ordered Feb 24 and to take effect Feb 26, ending March 28.

Mass meeting on education finance to be staged
An Ad Hoc Committee on School Finance schedules a March 13 mass meeting at 8 30 p m to discuss state financial aid for education. Dr Ivan Baker Park Forest Schools superintendent and Illinois school leaders will speak on needed funding and pathways to obtain it. Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference Schools Committee backs the event with PTA involvement.
