Democratic screening of candidates for Constitutional Convention delegate
The Democratic Party of Cook County 24th District screened four hopefuls for the non partisan delegate post. Candidates Otlas Nicholson Stuart Perlman Tyrone Kenner and Michael Shakman faced questions on qualifications organizations and reasons for seeking party backing. Nicholson noted updates to the constitution focusing on revenue welfare rent ceilings and one man one vote. Perlman a Yale Law School graduate and former Illinois Assistant Attorney General highlighted civil rights work and bar affiliations.

Harper Court Walk Debuts with Children's Focus at Hyde Park
The inaugural Harper Court Walk opens Saturday noon June 28 featuring children oriented activities. Fashion shows from Gabriel's and crafts by Art Directions highlight art, jewelry by Harun Abdulrashid, silversmithing by Kristin Anderson, and needlework demonstrations. Exhibits on urban development, playground pleas, and Japanese flower arranging accompany the event. A coalition of Reavis and Shoesmith PTAs propose turning the Kenwood Elementary building into a 6th 7th and 8th grade campus for their students.
