Hyde Park robber charged after merchant attacks
Leroy Carson Jr. 26, of the YMCA at 50th and Indiana, is charged with armed robbery after a knife point spree against Hyde Park merchants including a card shop at 329 S. LaSalle. Area 1 investigators and Hyde Park merchants aided the case. Carson’s June 17 court date is set.

The Chicago Urban League announces a 24 hour information hotline after recent violence outbreaks. Executive director James W. Compton urges citizens to call 285-5890 to report unusual incidents they witness or are involved in. The service will act as rumor control and an information referral clearinghouse.

Culture Bus links Chicago museums on weekend loop
The CTA launched a experimental Culture Bus linking the Field Museum Museum of Science and Industry Oriental Institute DuSable Museum and others on Sundays and holidays. Buses run every half hour 11 AM to 5 PM with northbound and southbound trips and special connections to Lincoln Park Zoo Hyde Park destinations. Fares use the Sunday Super pass at 80 cents for adults and 50 cents for seniors and children.

Memorial Service for Robert Maynard Hutchins Set
A memorial service for Robert Maynard Hutchins former Chancellor and President of the University of Chicago will be held at 3 30 p m Wednesday June 8 in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel on campus. Hutchins died May 14 in Santa Barbara California. The service will feature talks by James H Douglas Mortimer Adler Edward H Levi and Jerald C Brauer with a brief musical program. WFMT will broadcast live. A private service had been held May 20 in Santa Barbara.
