Vanderbilt divinity dean candidate vows no acceptance without prefs settlement
Hyde Parker Walter J. Harrelson said he will not accept the Vanderbilt University divinity school dean post until the expulsion dispute involving Rev. James M. Lawson Jr. is resolved to the satisfaction of resigning faculty. He spoke after Nashville officials accepted J. Robert Nelson’s resignation and ahead of his July 1 start, noting he would be the first Baptist to head the interdenominational school.
