ICG Denies Astrid Fuller Mural at 59th Street Underpass
The Illinois Central Gulf Railroad refused permission for two murals by Astrid Fuller at the 59th Street underpass after local residents, led by Alan K. Barlow of the Midway View co op, opposed the project as aesthetically incongruous. The railroad said it would consider the murals at other ICG walls and urged resolution of differences with residents.

New alcoholism act fails to boost ER visits
Hospitals report the July 1 enactment of the Alcoholism and Intoxication Act did not raise emergency room admissions. Amendments on July 9 shifted treatment to detox centers. few intoxicated individuals arrived at ERs, while some patients came in privately or were admitted to treatment units.
