Community meeting draws 500 as crowd opposes Jackson Park roadway
An unprecedented turnout of city officials heard about 500 residents applaud Fifth Ward Alderman Leon Despres as he urged opposition to a high speed expressway through Jackson Park. Lewis Hill led the Sinai Temple meeting held by the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference to discuss widening the Outer Drive from 53rd to 57th streets with Milton Pikarsky and Jack Sorenson among attendees.
