Community meeting set on Jackson Park report in Hyde Park
Chicago Plan Commission will present the Johnson Johnson and Roy Jackson Park report with a community meeting at Sinai Temple July 14 at 8 p.m sponsored by the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference. A Herald July 13 special section will run excerpts and drawings.

Head Start Kids Benefit From Kozminski School Beautification
Neighborhood Youth corps boys cleared vacant land east of Kozminski School at 54th and Ingleside to expand space for Head Start. The Board of Education owns the land and the project trains teens for community service. About 120 children are expected for the seven week program led by principal Martha Cleveland.

CCC approves high school site at 50th and Blackstone
Conservation Community Council grants unanimous approval for 10.3 acre site reclassified from C-11 and C-2 to school use under the Hyde Park-Kenwood Urban Renewal Plan. Added parcels include property near Kenwood School and the triangle of Sist Street Lake Park and Harper, with two retail buildings owned by Cirals and Carey. Plans call for a 2500 student high school oriented to 51st Street, funded largely by federal urban renewal aid.

Resolutions At June 29 Meeting Protect Kenwood Park and Support School Site
Conservation Community Council approved two resolutions over the high school site. One linked Plan Amendment 5 approval to ensuring Burnham park east of the railroad remains available for recreational use. The other urged Urban Renewal to aid relocating displaced businesses including Last Stage Theater and to seek underpass or overpass over the railroad. The City Council will review changes this summer.
