Not precluded run for mayor by State Rep Mann

State Rep Robert E Mann has not precluded the possibility of running for Chicago mayor in 1975 and is forming a city wide citizen group to gauge support. He emphasized focus on better state legislation and governance with revenue sharing, while acknowledging pressure from diverse city residents. Mann was previously expelled from the Democratic slate after opposing Hanrahan and backing independents. He notes past honors and his work on housing, lakefront rights, and health legislation.

Community health fair to offer free medical services Sunday

Harper Square Cooperative sponsors a one day mini clinic health fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday Feb 25 at 4800 South Lake Park Hyde Park Kenwood area residents and others can access free medical dental informational referral and social services. Michael Reese Hospital leads staff with five professionals from anesthesiology pediatrics dietetics and dialysis. Mercy Hospital Chicago Osteopathic Hospital and Daniel Hale Williams Health Center also join along with 36 agencies and two self contained vans including free chest X rays from Chicago Lung Association and audiograms from the Mayor's Council on the Aging. Saul Brandzell calls this the first private party sponsored community health care project by Harper Square.

Carey to Speak at Public Forum Tonight in Chicago

Bernard Carey Cook County State Attorney is guest speaker at a Near South Chapter forum at St. Ambrose Church 1012 E 47th St tonight at 7 30 p m. He will outline issues from six panelists including Janine Raymond Ed Grady Norval Morris Kermit Coleman Lois Kraft and Lu Palmer with Al Raby moderating.

Judge weighs Frederika case in federal fraud suit

Federal judge Richard McLaren continues to weigh whether to dismiss Frederika Blankner 18‑unit Woodlawn property suit against federal state and city officials and University of Chicago officials over the South Campus urban renewal plan. The case alleges fraud and conspiracy to condemn and clear the area with HUD funds amid slum and blighted findings. If dismissed, Blankner may appeal. if not, trial proceeds with evidence on the alleged schemes and city eminent domain history.
