Smith is one of three 24th District representatives. two Democrats backed by the regular organization and one Republican. Smith is a Democrat ally of Fourth Ward Alderman Claude Holman. Robert E Mann lives at 5639 Harper. Noble W. Lee is the Republican candidate at 5541 Woodlawn. Smith was first elected as a blue ribbon candidate in 1964 and re elected in 1966.
