Residents urge Jackson park upgrades at district budget hearings
Local residents and Senator Richard Newhouse pressed for Jackson park and Washington park improvements at Chicago Park District budget hearings. The Ad Hoc Committee on Community Recreation proposed playlots, improved golf facilities, renovated tennis courts, lagoon circulation, walkways repaving, landscaping Southwest of Clarence Darrow bridge, and Lake Shore Drive ramp overpasses. Newhouse said these goals fit existing park budgets and stressed recreation as a key factor in urban welfare.
