Goldschmidt plan for 53rd Street to be released in January
The six month study sponsored by the 53rd Street Merchants Association and the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference, led by planner Leo Goldschmidt with Robert Gordon, outlines phased proposals for 53rd Street from Kimbark to the Lake and the Lake Park area. It calls for retail and housing improvements, traffic relief, underpass and station upgrades, greenways linking commercial centers and schools, and tenant relocation safeguards with cost estimates from 50 000 to 50 million and a financing plan.
