Groundbreakings Set for Hyde Park Condominium and Kenwood Park
Two major construction projects in Chicago will hold formal groundbreaking ceremonies this week. Hyde Park Condominium at 5400 Hyde Park Blvd begins Thursday April 18 at 10 a.m. and Kenwood Park at 48th and Lake Park starts Saturday April 20 at 2 p.m. The Hyde Park project is a 24 story luxury high rise on private land by Attorney Lee Snitoff, with roof facilities and substantial parking. Kenwood Park, a United Dwellings Foundation cooperative with two 24 story towers and 52 garden apartments, is sponsored by the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union and targets moderate income housing with about a quarter of units financed under 221(d)(3) FHA rules. organizers note it may be the first Chicago area project of its kind. Community leaders will attend both events, which are open to the public.
