Box Supper and director election at West York Hall

The Court of Honor hosts a box supper and entertainment at Cullop's Hall West York this Saturday. Three directors are to be elected this spring to fill terms for one two and three years with the election set for April 15. Citizens are urged to attend and help choose the board for the school.

Reindeer brings lumber for Wilson building plans

Twenty five years ago Terre Haute Gazette reports the steamer Reindeer arriving from Hutsonville with lumber for T B Johns Improved Building and New Enterprise. W F Wilson has the lumber on the ground to extend his building and remodel the old portion into a modern structure. He and his son Ashbel plan a first class restaurant and will push upgrades to the latest standards.

Village plans improve Main Street walk and flood defenses

The Hutsonville village board advances improvements for N Main street including an east wall to hold dirt for a new walk, grading raises and a possible concrete or brick path. An iron railing will be added, with funding justified by long term savings and neighboring towns already building similar projects.

Township Election Yields Strong GOP Showing and Newlin Victory

Everything went smoothly at the township election Tuesday with a pleasant day and solid turnout. L. D. Newlin won the supervisor seat by 58 votes amid a GOP majority. other Republican candidates followed with about 142 votes on average. James Handley faced no opposition for Justice of the Peace, while Cecil Cox was Town Clerk and John McCain, Herman Mehler, and others won posts such as Assessor and Collector.

Town barber shops expand as relocations occur

George Franklin moves his barber shop to a newly vacated building once used by Abe Baker, while George Melton opens in Franklin's former room near the Post Office creating three shops in town. Manielpal ownership idea passes in Chicago with a large vote. Frank Comerford, ousted from the Illinois legislature, is reelected and vows reforms. George Willard leaves Rob ilson for Mestns Mo to work for M. A. & Bt. Ry.
