The Watertown Police and Fire Commission voted unanimously to discharge Robert Kerstell, fire chief for seven years, after four dismissed volunteer firefighters alleged false alarm reporting and truck management failures. Kerstell faced discipline following a July discharge of those volunteers.
Dodge Court Bar association members attended a joint picnic meeting at the Columbus Golf Club on Saturday. A number of minor car accidents were reported to the sheriff’s office last week, mostly at intersections with no serious injuries. Last Lucknow survivor Charles George Palmer 93, veteran of the British imperial army and last survivor of the Indian mutiny and the siege of Lucknow in 1857, died recently in Duncan.
