Fair Board Holds A Session In Huron This Week

The fair board conducted a session in Huron during the present week with Bayard E. Beach in attendance. The meeting addressed upcoming fair plans and scheduling considerations.

New Secretary and Officers Named by State Board of Agriculture

The annual state board of agriculture meeting in Hu Hoe elected officers for 1906. Forrester H. Smith as president, John H. King as vice president, Bayard E. Beach as treasurer, J. E. Platt as advertising agent, George E. McEathron as dairy superintendent, C. P. Sherwood as sheep and swine superintendent, C. C. Moulton as cattle and horses superintendent, H. S. Fletcher as gates and tickets superintendent, Mrs Eliza Jarvis as women’s department head. Reappointed were McEathron, Moon as advertising agent, and changes due to business travel and new offices. The board also approved resolutions commending McEathron and discussed fair matters with Sioux City officials before adjournment.

Inter Ocean 25 Cent Offer For New Subscribers

The Chicago Weekly Inter Ocean offers to new subscribers at 25 cents a year, with the 1.7% position held open until March 1. Prior rates were 5 to 40 cents after year end. The World and the paper announce the offer applies to new or existing subscribers paying up to March 1 1907. Middlebrook repairs typewriters and time locks at 85.

Packard Lecture Delights Grand Y M C A Crowd

Cartoonist Alton Packard appeared at the Grand last Thursday as the Lyceum course third speaker. He drew caricatures of Uncle Sam's varied "folks" including the Broadway chappie, the heathen Chinee, the Bostonian, the Filipino, the Kentucky colonel, the Puerto Rican, and others. The packed house declared it the best entertainment of the series.
