Man Held After Train Theft Case Weaves Across Counties

Brelsford, hired man for Watts, eluded capture after a theft from a tank wagon in a ravine. A warrant was sworn, deputies traced him to a Great Northern train to Watertown, where he was seized and later bound over to circuit court. Secretary of State notes outstanding warrants reduced by 76 000 through transfers of 59 000 from surplus bond interest funds and 25 000 from general fund cash. State Tax Totals Rise by 1905 Amounts Added

The state auditor reports compilation of taxes extended in all counties for 1904 and 1905. Total taxes for all purposes rise to 5 519 830 88 in 1905 from 5 020 846 87 in 1904, an increase near 500 000. A New England state sent 1 for the enlightenment fund, which the treasury lacks, so the remittance will be returned.
