Entertainers Draw Crowded House at Grand for College Fund
Choral Union Columbia Opera Company and Uncle Si Haskins staged a two part benefit at the Grand Friday for the college campus fund. A piano solo vocal numbers and a Shakespeare burlesque preceded a one act water cure scene featuring Portia Juliet Ophelia and Lady Macbeth. The Uncle Si show drew a fair crowd with a darker, murder filled plot than expected.

Old Resident Matthias Gabel Dies After Long Illness
Matthias Gabel an early Beadle county settler who came in 1881 died after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Catholic church in Cavour officiated by Rev Father O Farrell. He settled in Guster township, leaving a bereaved wife and six sons and six daughters.

Senator Gamble Splits South Dakota Machine
On December 7 Nels Lundblad died at his home on Illinois street of paralysis of the heart. He was sitting when he suffered the stroke and died almost immediately. Lundblad, born May 7 1856 in Skane Sweden, lived in Huron South Dakota since 1883. He leaves a wife Laura Sophia Carlson and two children Carl 18 and Selma 4, plus family in Sweden. He had served as storekeeper in C N W shops and as alderman four years.
