Huntley Board Discusses Taxes Bus Drivers and School Aid

Huntley Board of Education met to review financing for junior college tuition out of district fees and transportation funding amid driver shortages. A 10 cent levy was proposed for transportation, with a single spectator bus planned for next away game and cafeteria disposable utensil trials underway. State aid for summer school was discussed. officials praised estimator Dan Kern for predicting aid of 4952 dollars.

Huntley Loses to Genoa in Home Opener 34 to 7

Coach McDonald said Huntley did not play well in the first half, suffering minus six yards and trailing 26 0 at the break. Schmittendorf’s 46 yard run was the lone bright spot as Genoa scored on a punt return and a pass interception for touchdowns. Glen Barhart scored Huntley’s name touchdown in the fourth on a 12 yard return after an interception. Darwin Campbell added the extra point. The team hoped to rebound against Mooseheart in tomorrow’s game.

McHenry County Board Cuts 1970 Budget Items

McHenry County supervisors on September 11 trimmed the 1970 budget by removing three items from the Department of Health and a proposed raise for John Quay head of the Planning Commission. Total cuts reached about 12000 dollars while the chairman Willert Russel will increase to 12000 dollars annually. A tax fund for courthouse construction and related needs was approved with a separate public vote. An amendment for Valley Hi Nursing Home failed 13 to 14.

Farm Bureau Dinner Set At Marian Central High School

The McHenry County Farm Bureau will hold its annual Dinner Meeting at Marian Central High School on Thursday Sept 25. The business meeting begins at 8 15 p m after the roast beef dinner with an election of officers and other business transactions.

Huntley Frosh Soph Tie Genoa 18 18 In Week

Huntley Frosh Soph and Genoa battled to an 18 18 tie last Monday with Huntley briefly leading until the fourth quarter. Key plays included a Lindsey to Campbell touchdown and Barhart on a short touchdown run. Harm intercepted a Genoa pass and nearly scored. Coach Manning praised Ruth Campbell Lindsey Schultz and Barhart and noted a touchdown called back by penalty. Next game is vs Mooseheart next Monday.

The Sophomore Class schedules a car wash for Saturday September 27 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Huntley firebarn. Tickets are $1.50 with proceeds directed to the Junior-Senior prom expenses.

Con-Con Returns Highlight Huntley McHenry Vote Lead

In McHenry County 1328 of 10866 registered voters cast ballots in the 33rd Senatorial District Con-Con election. Huntley Grafton precinct led with 114 total votes. S C Johnson Triumphed in county results with 6,644 votes, Strack 5,920, Wymore 5,411.

Huntley FFA Delegates Headed to National Convention

The Huntley FFA chapter selected delegates for the national FFA convention in Kansas City Missouri. They plan to depart with advisor Mr. Kwain on Sunday evening October 12 1969 and tour the Purina Research Farm near St Louis on Monday for a tour and practice judging. Afterward the group will return home arriving Saturday evening October 18 1969. Tentative Slave Sale set for Friday November 14 1969 with a work day Saturday November 15 1969 unless otherwise arranged.

Land Bank Meeting at Woodstock with keynote speaker

The Federal Land Bank Association of Woodstock will hold its annual meeting on October 11, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. A banquet roast beef dinner will precede a talk titled A Sense of Direction by Charles E. Alexander, Illinois Agricultural Association secretary. The group serves McHenry, Lake and Boone counties with over 500 members and loan total of 13.3 million dollars. The meeting will also include elections for two three year directors.
