Excavation Begins for New High School Shops Site
Work started this week on clearing the land behind the high school for the new shops. A large oak stump was removed to make room, with about six feet of soil to be filled after grading. Extra dirt is hauled to the football field east end and dumped in school land, with plans to someday use the area for another baseball diamond.

Redskins Win Over Genoa On Monday JS JV Football Triumph
The Huntley Redskins junior varsity defeated Hiawatha 26 to 6 at Huntley field under a Little 8 rule allowing fresh men to play after varsity games. Coaches noted young players gained experience while varsity players sometimes filled key roles. The next JV game is set for Monday Sept 22 at 4 15 PM against Genoa at home.

Robbery at the Jim Jones residence 11518 Algonquin Road occurred Friday evening between 8:20 and 11 p.m. A back door window was smashed to enter. Missing items include a Lord Elgin watch cuff links a tie clasp an Arvin radio a large tool box and tools. A light tan pickup was seen in the driveway around 9:15 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Woods of Woodstock is investigating.
