Huntley Police Department offers stickers with phone numbers for police sheriffs fire and ambulance services in Huntley. Numbers include Huntley Police 669 2341 McHenry County Sheriff 812 338 2141 Kane County Sheriff 232 8400 Huntley Fire 669 2121 and Huntley Ambulance 669 5111.
A special election will be held Saturday October 2 to decide if a park district is established in the Huntley area. The vote follows a August 31 Circuit Court hearing in Mc Henry County. The district would include parts detached from Grafton Township and extend into Coral and Rutland townships. Further details will follow.
Huntley Consolidated School announces new staff for the year. Joseph Manning joins to teach English II and III Latin I and World History with prior work at St Mary's St Edward's in Elgin. Jon Merritt arrives from Illinois Wesleyan to teach English I Spanish I II and Speech with studies at UI UC and ASU. Don Rodgers from Toledo teaches Vong I II III IV with degree work at Southern Illinois and Illinois. Robert Tirk of Boston teaches instrumental and vocal music with a B M from Lawrence Appleton. Adrienne Hamm joins elementary as kindergartner from LaGrange Park a 1965 NS A graduate. Larry Swab teaches 7th 8th grade Social Studies from Eu reka College and Western Illinois University. Gloria Christensen teaches Grade IB in Hampshire after studies at Munnelein and De Paul. Nancy Rockwell handles Grade IC at Lake Marion with Rockford College background. District and residents welcome these newcomers hoping for a rewarding association.
The 1965 Huntley High School football schedule, released by Coach Homer Barry, lists games against North Boone Central Earlville Hebron Genoa Richmond Hiwatha and Hampshire. Home games are marked Here and away games There with kickoff times from 2 P M to 8 P M and events like Scout Night Homecoming and Dad s Night noted. Posters and pocket schedules will be available at the High School and State Bank of Huntley which sponsors the schedules.
Roy L. Bankes cashier of the State Bank of Huntley has returned from a two week residency at the University of Wisconsin Madison Graduate School of Banking August 15 28 1965. This marked his second year at the program which requires two weeks on site annually for three years to earn graduation.
Mr and Mrs Harry Purdom have sold Huntley Certified Supermarket to Donald McCollum effective Tuesday August 31 after 12 years of service. The Purdoms expanded and remodeled the store and will retire to manage farms in northern Illinois. McCollum, 13 years in groceries at A and P Mendota, is married to Lorna Mae with three daughters and seeks a residence for his family.
