John J. Shay, Director of the McHenry County Civil Defence, announced that Huntley and other McHenry County communities received Civil Defence certificates. He noted it is the first time in the county that every city and village was accredited under the program.
A zoning hearing for land south of Huntley on Route 47 near the toll road entrance is scheduled for November 28 at 7 30 P M. The Rutland Town Hall will host the meeting and all interested persons are urged to attend.
Police responded to a report of two youths driving a car stealing three hubcaps from a Chevrolet dealer in Huntley at 10 PM on Monday November 12. Officers traced the vehicle, recovered the hubcaps, and arrested the juveniles, whose names are not printed by law. The suspects, from Carpentersville, confessed after license-plate identification.
School lunch menu lists meals for November 19 to 21. Monday offers pizza burgers corn potato chips chocolate chip cookies and milk. Tuesday features Italian meat balls steamed rice buttered green beans and French bread with milk. Wednesday is Cook's Choice. Thursday and Friday show no school.
County Board candidates filed for districts in the February 12 1974 primary. In District One Democrats include Robert L Frank of Huntley while Republicans include Cal Skinner Sr Conrad Fleeter George F Staar Phyllis K Walters and George W Lowe Jr. District Two Democrat candidate is Dr James O Laughlin of Crystal Lake with other filings noted.
The Circuit Court of McHenry County concluded the Huntley versus Olson case. Knute Olson must obtain a building permit within 60 days to start remodeling his Woodstock Street home. The case questioned village ordinances on unsafe buildings and whether Olson was properly notified of a permit application.
The P T A and the Board of Education for Dutrica No 158 will hold an information meeting Tuesday November 20 at 8 00 P M in the trade school gym. They will discuss the board s need to indicate a choice for annexing to Elgin Community College or McHenry Community College Huntley residents should examine the breadth of education programs for the average citizen and for those needing career retraining.
