Slave Sale Earns Funds for Education and Trips
A local slave auction last Thursday netted about $600 with roughly $100 from cakes and donations. Proceeds will fund educational trips, college assistance, and FFA projects. A list of donors, sponsors, and supporters is thanked as the sale wraps up. A Walther League Rally at Trinity Lutheran Church Huntley is planned for Sunday November 6 with Bob Hale as guest speaker and a screening of Martin Luther. Registration starts at 1:00 p.m. with $1.50 for supper.

Veterans Day Observances Planned by Huntley Legion
The Huntley American Legion and Legion Auxiliary schedule Veterans Day events on November 11 with a joint observance at 11 a.m. at the Legion Home and a parade from Huntley High School starting at 10 a.m. Participants include the high school band Pastor Fredrick Harm Legion Auxiliary members and Boy Scouts who will raise the flag at the Legion Home. The group urges residents to fly flags in honor of all who fought in the nation’s wars.

Legion Halloween Dance Winners at Huntley Legion
The Huntley American Legion held its Halloween costume dance on October 29 with fewer attendees but high quality costumes. Winners included Mr and Mrs Harry Hughes as hoboes and Iris Smith of Elgin as an old woman. Charles Clark earned third prize. Music was by the Esquires of Woodstock. The next Legion event is a feather party on November 12 at 8 pm with a free lunch.

Pastor Frank Installed at Huntley Church
The United Church of Christ Congregational in Huntley will install the Rev. R. L. Frank as pastor on Sunday Nov. 6. A buffet dinner for out of town guests follows in the Social Hall at 6. The installation service begins at 7 in the sanctuary, with open house and reception for Rev. and Mrs. Frank afterward. Huntley firefighters responded to a Monday roof fire at the Quin O'Brien home 31 Grove Street around 2 p.m. They used two trucks and a tanker, connected to a hydrant at Mill and Grove, cut roof holes, and extinguished the blaze in under an hour. Two rooms suffered extensive damage.
