Huntley residents invited to Memorial Day ceremonies sponsored by Huntley American Legion Post 673 commander Bob Schachtner. Services begin 11:00 AM at Huntley cemetery with prayers, songs, and a firing squad. A second service follows at Harmony Cemetery at 1:00 PM led by Union Legion Post 482 and Post 673 with Bruce Wadell as guest speaker.

The Huntley Consolidated School District No. 158 board meets in the High School building May 17 1976 at 7 45 p m. Present are Ziller Brettschneider Ruth Zirk Livingston and Simpson with Stading absent. Executive sessions address coaching candidates and teacher negotiations. A fresh soph coach Gary Keesling is appointed 5 1. Meeting adjourned to May 24 at 7 45 p m. The Huntley Lions Club installs officers May 22 at Casa Mia Belvidere MI.

Manning Recipient Attends Illinois Young Authors Conference
Andrea Manning of Huntley Grade School traveled to Springfield with her family on May 1 for the Illinois Second Statewide Young Authors Conference. Her short story A Bad Experience Our First Baseball Game earned her invitation as one of 200 authors. The day featured readings, group meetings, a lecture by Mrs Gerry Armstrong, and Certificates of Achievement. Andrea’s manuscript was one of thirty kept by sponsors for statewide display.

Julie Orberg named one of ten semi finalists in the N W Division of Northern Illinois Gas Energy Conservation Poster Contest. Most students at Huntley School entered. Awards banquet on May 27 at the Sheraton Oakbrook will honor final winners who receive a ten speed bicycle as grand prize.
