May 21 1976 designated Poppy Day in Huntley. Poster contest offers a $10 gift certificate for first prize at Huntley High School with judging May 20 at the Legion Home. Winner's poster advances to District and Headquarters. Annette Peters Poppy Chairman.
Mayor Donald Finstrom proclaims May 31 1976 as Memorial Day urging residents and businesses to display the U S flag. Memorial services led by Huntley American Legion Post 673 guest speaker Bruce Wadell will honor the fallen with rites at Huntley Cemetery Harmony Cemetery and public observances at 11 00 A M and 1 00 PM respectively.
Scout News Treeop 167 attended the Spring Camp-o-ree at Camp Lowden in Oregon Illinois on May 14 15 16. Seven Scouts and four adults participated with names including Quinn OBrien Scott Randels Tim Randels Gregg DeDina Keith Dobrolinsky Joe Gow Roger Graff and adults Gary DeDina Dave Bjorn Ron Randels Gon DeDina. Last Friday May 14 awards for World’s Fair reports were given to 6th graders. A panel of twelve graded the sports and each judge read five papers. Special honors went to Regina Seiler Dave Reed and Chris Pupich for added film strips and music. refreshments followed. Troop 167 received the Golden Skillet award for cleanest cooking area and best menu plan for the weekend during Memorial Day parade on May 31.
Huntley Consolidated School District 156 Board met May 10 1976 at 7 52 p m in the high school. Members Ziller Brettschneider Livingston Zirk Simpson Ruth present. Stadling absent. Minutes approved. bills approved with exception of Blakslee Midwest pending architect approval. Transfers of 595 09 to Imprest Fund approved. Reading for Enjoyment course approved. Lending of Media to Community policy accepted. THSA dues renewed at 15 00. High School Testing schedule accepted. Refund of about 1 1 2 months of Blue Cross Blue Shield premiums approved. Zirk named non voting member area vocational center. Civil Liberties Liability coverage policy approved 1675 00 for 3 years. Gifted funding application approved.
