Huntley Board Votes to Expand EMH Class at Huntley

Huntley Board of Education met May 3 with most members present except President Zimmer­man. The board approved establishing an EMH room at Huntley next year and authorized a $8100 salary for the instructor as the program moves from Marengo to Huntley.

Gasoline Storage Ban Issued by Huntley Fire Officials

The Huntley Fire Department warns residents not to store raw gasoline in containers over five gallons within village limits without a signed permit from the State Department of Public Safety. Violators have 30 days to obtain the permit or face enforcement visits. distributors are urged to verify permits before filling containers. 7th and 8th Grade Plan Dance

The annual seventh and eighth grade dance is set for Monday May 15 at 8 00 pm in Huntley Consolidated School gymnasium. The Mel Elliott trio will perform. Principal Glen Delaney notes the event is for parents and students not a dating occasion.

Pamela Staab 17 daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Staab and Huntley High School junior will attend Illini Girls State at MacMurray College Jacksonville in June representing American Legion Auxiliary Huntley Unit 673. She plays flute in band active in G A A FTA secretary in FHA has served as treasurer and is secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church Walter League.

Mother Daughter Banquet May 20 at United Church of Christ

The Mother Daughter banquet sponsored by the Men’s Fellowship of the United Church of Christ will be held Saturday evening May 20. Jon Merritt and wife are spotlighted for singing and folk songs, with Shig Fujimoto showing homeland photos. Five local cooks oversee the meal.

Mrs. Beverly Kubis announced the grand opening of the Village Inn on Monday May 165 from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Free coffee and donuts will be served and balloons will be available for children. She thanked Huntley residents for patronizing the new establishment.

New Illinois Bell Changes Toll Call Procedure

Illinois Bell announces a May 12 change for Huntley customers. Callers will not enter their numbers for toll calls. numbers will be recorded automatically. The company will mail explanations and complete the update without home visits.

Huntley P.T.A. to Hold Final Meeting With Tour and Election

The Huntley Parent Teachers Association plans its final year meeting on Wednesday May 17. A 7 45 p.m. tour of the new school building will precede the 8 p.m. business session and officer elections. A panel on vocational and pre college curriculum will follow. Refreshments and a social hour close the program. all parents are urged to attend.

Village Board May 4 Sets Annual Appointments and Zoning Input

The Village Board held its regular meeting on May 4 with full attendance. It approved annual posts for Chief of Police Richard Nelson Utility Supt Percy Swanson Collector Betty Zirk Treasurer Florence Michelsen Building and Forest Inspector Marvin Radlofft Attorneys Cowlin & Cowlin and heard retiring building commissioner Ira Reed praise the board before remaining on the Zoning Board. Mrs Steffler requested living quarters above the Town Tap and sought board guidance on converting space into two rooms for residence, noting prior tenancy in Elgin and plans to hire carpenters and painters, pending resident requirements confirmation.

Judge Parker Rules on Injunction

Judge Charles Parker in Circuit Court dismissed the temporary injunction filed Nov 6 1966 against the Grafton Township Board of Local Improvements as erroneously drawn on May 4 1967. The suit was brought by Grafton Township taxpayers including William Russell Ber nice Russell Leona Nelson and Mrs Carol Marsh. Continued on page seven.

Parents Sought for Post Prom Party Helpers

Parents of junior and senior students and others are asked to come to the Fire Barn on Saturday May 13 at 8:00 AM to assist in departure for the Post Prom Party. Helpers are also needed Sunday morning at 8:00 AM to restore the Fire Barn for an afternoon event.
